Ligatures feature is default setting in Adobe Illustrator or Adobe Photoshop in Uppercase character. So when you want not to use the ligatures.
Open glyphs panel :
– In Adobe Photoshop choose tool **Window Character** and then please click fi symbol
– In Adobe Illustrator choose tool **Window Type Open Type** and then please click fi symbol
How to access Alternates Character?
Open glyphs panel :
– In Adobe Photoshop choose tool Window glyphs
– In Adobe Illustrator choose tool Type glyphs
